Robert Harris Jackson was born on May 10, 1875, in the Sowell Mill community of Maury County, TN, to Elijah James Jackson and Martha Starr Harris. He had one sister and her name was Olivia Starr (Jackson) Burns.

On December 2, 1903, in Maury County, TN, Robert married Mary Margaret “Maggie” Lumsden. They had 6 children. Their names were James Lumsden Jackson, Ronald Harris Jackson, Mildred (Jackson) Taylor, Henry Curtis “Curtis” Jackson, Cyril Douglas “Bud” Jackson, and Samuel Anderson Jackson. Around the time Robert and Maggie got married, they moved to the Pottsville Community of Maury County. They would live there for about 16 years until they moved to the Green’s Mill Community in Spring Hill, TN. In 1922, Robert began his job as a Trustee of Maury County, TN. He would go on to have that job until 1926.

Most of Robert’s children eventually moved to Spring Hill, TN and today are one of the most notable families of the area. Even his grandchildren did great things for the city that are now down in the city’s history. R.H. Jackson was an was an engineer at the Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tullahoma, TN; Mary Katherine (Jackson) Ricketts was a schoolteacher and ran the store in Greenville, TN; Harold Jackson was a Quality Control Manager at Unarco Material Handling and Faultless Caster, and was a supervisor at Delight Products; Kenneth Jackson was a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at Spring Hill High School and was also a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, and principal at the Santa Fe School for 22 years; Helen Starr (Jackson) McNeese Chennault worked at the First Farmers & Merchants Bank in Columbia, TN; Richard Jackson was a paperboy of Spring Hill, TN and was an engineer employee with his wife, Beverly, at BellSouth; Mary Alice (Jackson) Goolsby was the owner and operator of Sugar Ridge Creations in Spring Hill, TN; Ann Gayle (Taylor) Poynor worked for the Tennessee Department of Employment Security; and Betty Jackson (Taylor) Thomas married a teacher of industrial arts at Pearl-Cohn High School in Nashville, TN.

Sadly, on May 25, 1953, in Columbia, Maury County, TN, Robert died. He was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Columbia, Maury County, TN.
