Rev. William Green “Green” Thompson was born on August 16, 1848, in TN, to Tom and Jane Thompson. It is unknown whether or not he had siblings.

Rev. Thompson married three different times. On February 27, 1873, in Maury County, TN, to Adeline Foster, On November 29, 1900, in Maury County, TN, to Harriette McKissack, and August 27, 1903, in Maury County, TN, to Charlotte Brown. Him and Charlotte had two sons, William Green Thomson Jr. and Henry Hugh Thompson. The Thompson family lived in Spring Hill, TN on Duplex Road according to the 1910 and 1920 censuses.

Rev. Thompson was a minister at the St. Mark Baptist Church that still stands on Maury Hill Street, in Spring Hill, TN. The Spring Hill Historic Commission is working on trying to preserve the old, ran down, building that once was a well-known African American church. Also, the Spring Hill Public Library is trying to identify people in some very old portraits of past ministers of the St. Mark Baptist Church. If you can be of any assistance identifying who some of these people are, contact the Spring Hill Public Library.

Sadly, on June 5, 1929, in Spring Hill, Maury County, TN, Rev. Thompson died of Pneumonia. He is buried at Greenwood Cemetery, in Columbia, Maury County, TN.
